In short
The remote Mazrendas Waterfall always seeps and, it seems, never flows: but, nevertheless, it has created a picturesque sandstone canyon.

In detail
It is not too easy to reach the elusive Mazrendas Waterfall – one should break through swampy thickets towards it and it is not too easy to find it.
Nevertheless, this is a charming little natural landmark – a small sandstone canyon near Abava River, formed by a small brook (Grīfvalks) and springs at the base of cliffs. This cliff is called Smilšu siena (Sand Wall).
The brook has very little water in it, but surprisingly, it does not dry out for most part of the year. Water seeps over some 0.5 m thick layer of Devonian oolitic sandstone with fragile layer of loose Devonian sandstone under it. Waterfall is some 2.1 m high and its stream after some 20 – 30 meters falls in Abava River.
