Qinngua Valley
The only forest in Greenland, with willows and birches several meters high. Valley has more than 300 species of plants. This is a place of unsurpassed beauty, with a clean river and tall, snow-clad mountains around.
Kubu Island (Ga’nnyo)
Approximately 1 km long and up to 20 meters high granitic island in the middle of vast Makgadikgadi Plains – giant salt flats. Area of eerie, unusual beauty, adorned with a group of giant baobabs. Remnants of prehistoric structures – an enormous stone wall and hundreds of circular stone cairns.
Island of Mozambique
Urbanized island with numerous historical buildings. Arab trade port was established here in medieval times. The island (and later the whole country) was named after Musa Mbiki – an Arab trader. Contains the oldest European fort in Sub-Saharan Africa – Fort São Sebastião, built in the 2nd half of the 16th century, a rare example of Late Gothic (Manueline) architecture in Africa.
Maletsunyane Falls
192 m tall waterfall – vertical plunge.
Phophonyane Falls
80 m tall waterfall, flowing down along steep surface of gneiss. On the stream have formed multiple falls and rapids. Exposed rocks are 3.55 billion years old.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Abu Dhabi
The eighth-largest mosque in the world, constructed in 2007 as one of the most beautiful religious structures in the modern world. The building has 82 domes rising up to 85 m high. Tallest minaret is 107 m high. White color dominates the design, very impressive is the floral design of the marble courtyard.
Kongou Falls
Some of the most impressive falls in Central Africa have formed on the Ivindo River and are surrounded by beautiful rainforests. Waterfalls have many cascades and some 50-56 m tall and 3.2 km wide.
Njupeskär
125 tall waterfall, tallest single plunge is 93 m tall. Tallest waterfall in Sweden.
Paro Taktsang Monastery
This monastery is in a dramatic setting on the side of a cliff, 700 meters above the bottom of the valley. It was built in 1692. Near the monastery is a 60 m high waterfall – Taktsang waterfall.
Baji Cypress (King Cypress)
The largest known giant cypress (Cupressus gigantea W. C. Cheng & L.K. Fu), height roughly 46 – 56 m, diameter 4.46 – 5.8 m, approximately 2,600 years old (not testified). Tree grows in a relict stand of cypresses, many trees here are enormous.
