Extremely deep water-filled sinkhole – a cave with at least 392 m deep waterbody, total measured depth – 472 m.
Sima Aonda
383 meters deep, ancient quartzite sinkhole. The stream that flows through it, emerges at one side of the steep wall of Auyantepui and here, in the open air, it falls down for some 100 m.
Bala’a sinkhole (Baatara sinkhole) and waterfall
Approximately 255 m deep, nearly vertical cave with waterfall in it. The entrance in the cave is some 70 m deep sinkhole. Here waterfall has percolated one side of sinkhole, creating three natural bridges one above the other. Waterfall disappears underground.

Garden of Eden on Sarawak
Possible world’s largest sinkhole that from three sides is surrounded by 150 – 300 m high vertical walls. This is a former giant cave chamber with two giant caves (Deer Cave and Green Cave) continuing on both sides of Garden of Eden. Volume – 150 million m³, size 1,200 x 1,000 m.
Qingkou tiankeng and waterfalls
The most impressive erosion tiankeng, with several waterfalls falling into it, vertical walls. Up to 295 m deep, up to 250 m wide, volume 9.2 million m³. The giant Er Wang Dong cave starts here.
Niubizi tiankeng (Niubidong)
An enormous pit, one of Qingkou tiankengs. In this impressive sinkhole starts the 42 km long Er Wang Dong cave.
Bimmah sinkhole
Approximately 30 m deep sinkhole with a deep blue lake in it. A beloved place for swimming, the best-known sinkhole in Oman.
Le Trou de David
A former sinkhole at the sea, with two natural arches towards the sea. In calm weather, one could swim into this sinkhole from the sea. Collapsed in December 2011.
Pozo de las Animas – Well of Souls
Two closely located sinkholes with small lakes at the bottom. The largest is 101 m deep, including the 21 m deep, blue lake. Wind creates eerie, whistling sounds in the sinkholes.
