Boiling Lake

Flooded fumarole, filled with bubbling greyish-blue water and enveloped in steam. The diameter of this lake is some 63 m. The temperature of the water is 82 – 100 C°. In the late 19th century in the center of the lake formed a geyser that was up to 18 m high. Second largest boiling lake in the world.

Quadirikiri Cave

150 m long cave that opens in a limestone wall. Contain Amerindian petroglyphs, stalactites and stalagmites. Two large cave chambers are lighted through holes in the ceiling. Site of legends.

The site where remnants of extinct giant rodent Amblyrhiza inundata were found in the 19th century. This deer-sized animal lived some 125 000 years ago, at lower sea level. It is possible that these remnants were found in other local caves as well.
